The closing practices give the View — the way of seeing that dissolves fear. Verse 132: the great epithets — eternal, all-pervading, unsupported, omnipresent, lord of all — are not only a distant God's; meditate moment by moment that these words describe your own deepest nature, and be fulfilled. Verse 133: all this stands unreal, like a magic show — 'what reality is there in a magic show?' — and by that firm conviction comes peace. Verse 134: for the changeless Self there is neither knowing nor doing; the outer world depends on being known, so it is, in itself, empty. Verse 135 is the great release: 'For me there is no bondage and no liberation; these are only bogeys for the frightened. This world is a reflection in the intellect, like the sun's images in water.' It is a gentle lightening of identification — not a denial that life and others matter.
nityo vibhur nirādhāro vyāpakaś cākhilādhipaḥ ।
śabdān pratikṣaṇaṃ dhyāyan kṛtārtho 'rthānurūpataḥ ॥
Eternal, all-pervading, unsupported, omnipresent, the Lord of all — meditating moment by moment on these words (the divine epithets, as describing one's own Self), one is fulfilled in accord with their meaning.
atattvam indrajālābham idaṃ sarvam avasthitam ।
kiṃ tattvam indrajālasya iti dārḍhyāc chamaṃ vrajet ॥
All this stands unreal, appearing like a magic show; 'what reality is there in a magic show?' — by that firm conviction, one attains peace.
ātmano nirvikārasya kva jñānaṃ kva ca vā kriyā ।
jñānāyattā bahirbhāvā ataḥ śūnyam idaṃ jagat ॥
For the changeless Self, where is knowing, where is doing? External things depend on being known; therefore this world is, in itself, empty.
na me bandho na mokṣo me bhītasyaitā vibhīṣikāḥ ।
pratibimbam idaṃ buddher jaleṣv iva vivasvataḥ ॥
'For me there is no bondage and no liberation; these are only bogeys for the frightened. This world is a reflection in the intellect, like the sun's images in water.'
The deepest of these practices: to loosen the habit of taking yourself to be the small, bound, anxious person, and to rest — even briefly — as the changeless awareness in which the whole dreamlike world appears. The verses give the View: the divine attributes describe your own nature; the world is vivid but insubstantial, like a reflection; and 'for me there is no bondage and no liberation' — the very idea of being trapped is, the verse says gently, a fear that frightens only the frightened.
Sit quietly, settled and unhurried. Best after some steadiness from the earlier Rooms.
5–15 minutes, light and unforced.
Notice that as you rest as the changeless awareness rather than the anxious person, a lightness and freedom open — the world keeps moving but its grip loosens, and the fear 'I am trapped' quietly deflates. It is not that nothing matters; it is that nothing can finally bind what you most deeply are.
This is a gentle lightening of identification — NOT nihilism or spiritual bypassing. 'The world is a reflection / there is no bondage' is a contemplative View meant to free you from fear; it does NOT mean your life, ethics, relationships, or others' suffering don't matter — keep acting with care and responsibility. If 'nothing is real' or 'I am not the doer' ever brings up anxiety, a disturbing sense of unreality, or numb detachment, stop, open your eyes, feel the ground and your body, and return to ordinary, engaged life. Go slowly; this View is the most powerful of the beginner-safe set.
Sit for a few minutes and try resting as the awareness in which everything appears — letting the world be as light and dreamlike as a reflection in water, and the fear 'I am trapped' be just a story. Notice the lightness that opens. That what you most deeply are was never bound is the verse, offered for you to test in your own stillness. Try it; then see for yourself.
