The text closes as beautifully as it opened. First, one last dharana, the most intimate of all — the breath itself. The out-breath flows out and the in-breath returns of its own accord, tracing a serpentine curve; that ceaseless, self-moving breath is herself the Great Goddess, the supreme field (154) — and one who lives absorbed in her, in that bliss-filled inner rite, attains the supreme Bhairav (155). This is the ajapa-japa, the 'unrecited recitation': the breath repeats itself 21,600 times a day and night, the Goddess's own prayer, effortless for the awake and missed by the dull (156). Then the traditional seal of secrecy: this nectar must never be given to the unworthy — the cruel, the faithless, another teacher's disciple — but freely, without hesitation, to devotees and the guru's circle (157-159); worth more than kingdom, family or life itself, it is the one lasting wealth, to be taken up even at the cost of all else (160). And the close: the Goddess declares herself wholly fulfilled — she has grasped the essence of the Rudrayamala and known the heart of all the powers — and, delighted, she clings to Shiva's neck (161-162). This Room is Text and Decode, the dialogue's tender conclusion. (The ajapa breath of vv.154-156 is safe simply to notice; its living, energetic form belongs, like all pranic practice here, with a teacher — its gentle cousin is watching the breath turn, Room 24.)
vrajet prāṇo viśej jīva icchayā kuṭilākṛtiḥ ।
dīrghātmā sā mahādevī parakṣetraṃ parāparā ॥
The out-breath (prana) goes out and the in-breath (jiva) comes in of its own accord, in a serpentine curve; that long-drawn Great Goddess is herself the supreme field, the Para-para.
asyām anucaran tiṣṭhan mahānandamaye 'dhvare ।
tayā devyā samāviṣṭaḥ paraṃ bhairavam āpnuyāt ॥
Abiding in and following her, within that rite (adhvara) full of supreme bliss, absorbed into that Goddess, one attains the supreme Bhairav.
ṣaṭśatāni divā rātrau sahasrāṇyekaviṃśatiḥ ।
japo devyāḥ samuddiṣṭaḥ sulabho durlabho jaḍaiḥ ॥
Day and night this recitation runs twenty-one thousand six hundred times — this spontaneous japa of the Goddess, easy for the wise but missed by the dull.
ity etat kathitaṃ devi paramāmṛtam uttamam ।
etac ca naiva kasyāpi prakāśyaṃ tu kadācana ॥
This supreme, highest nectar of teaching that I have told you, O Devi, must never be disclosed to anyone unworthy.
paraśiṣye khale krūre abhakte gurupādayoḥ ।
nirvikalpamatīnāṃ tu vīrāṇām unnatātmanām ॥
It is not for another's disciple, nor the wicked, nor the cruel, nor one without devotion to the guru's feet — but only for the heroes of thought-free mind and lofty spirit.
bhaktānāṃ guruvargasya dātavyaṃ nirviśaṅkayā ।
grāmo rājyaṃ puraṃ deśaḥ putradārakuṭumbakam ॥
To the devoted and to the circle of the guru it should be given without hesitation. Village, kingdom, city, country, son, wife and family —
sarvam etat parityajya grāhyam etan mṛgekṣaṇe ।
kim ebhir asthirair devi sthiraṃ param idaṃ dhanam । prāṇā api pradātavyā na deyaṃ paramāmṛtam ॥
renounce all these, O gazelle-eyed one, and take up this alone. What use are these unstable things, O Devi? This supreme wealth alone is lasting. Give even your life-breaths — but never give this supreme nectar to the unworthy.
devadeva mahādeva paritṛptāsmi śaṅkara ।
rudrayāmalatantrasya sāramadyāvadhāritam ॥
(The Goddess:) O God of gods, O Mahadeva, O Shankara — I am wholly fulfilled; today I have grasped the essence of the Rudrayamala tantra.
sarvaśaktiprabhedānāṃ hṛdayaṃ jñātamadya ca ।
ityuktvānanditā devī kaṇṭhe lagnā śivasya tu ॥
'Today I have known the heart of all the powers' — so saying, the delighted Goddess clung to Shiva's neck. (Thus the dialogue ends.)
